The teaser trailer for Fruits Basket came out last week but still, the excitement is still around, the anime is scheduled to be released in 2019.

For us old school kids we know the drill, but for those who haven't seen the anime or manga. The story revolves around high school student Tohru Honda, who has to live alone in a tent after losing her mother. She ends up living with classmates Yuki and Kyo Sohma, working as their housekeeper. She soon discovers that the family has been bound by a Zodiac-related curse if a Sohma family member is touched by the opposite sex they turn into their Chinese zodiac animal.

Tohru looks just as adorable as ever! This anime rendition will cover the entire manga series. The manga was written by Natsuki Takaya (who is the executive supervisor for this reboot) originally released in 1998 spanning 23 volumes and ended in 2006. The first anime for Fruits Basket started and ended in 2001 with only 26 episodes. Which only covered the first six mangas, so this will not be a continuation of the first anime. It's an entire reboot.

The series in North America will be streaming on Funimation. There is no actual date quite yet but there will be updates!
